Ten Phrases First Used in the New Yorker by Lena Dunham
Reading Lena Dunham’s piece in the New Yorker this week, I of course wondered “Is this the first time ‘dick-slapped’ has appeared in the New Yorker?” Turns out, it is! At least according to their online archive.
Then I went ahead and searched for more phrases from her article for no good reason. Anyway, she has nine other firsts:
- “crazy fucking hag”
- “What the fuck is this shit”
- “a raging UTI”
- “an ironic weekend trip” [to the Cleveland Salvation Army]
- “super gay”
- “internet studies”
- “eco-resort”
- “lesbian detective”
- “ayahuasca ceremony”
